One day after Symbian-Freak leaked the Nokia promo video for the E75 and E72, he is able to bless our eyes with live shots of the E75. Too bad no shots of it with the slide out keyboard open. Looks good, lots of chrome. Enjoy!

S60.com sends some schwag!
Posted by pnksniper on September 18, 2008
I came home a couple nights ago to find a mysterious package that had been dropped off by UPS. I inspected the package finding no indication from where it had been sent from. But without hesitation seeing my name on it I ripped open the package. Inside I found that S60.com had sent me some schwag!!! Included in the package was:
- Notepad
- Mini Notebook
- 2 pens
- Widsets catalog
- Widsets keychain
- Mobile Screen cleaner
- stickers
- USB hub
- T-shirt
- Necklace/Neck Lanyard
Overall pretty cool and unexpected, thanks S60!

Loose Keyboard on the E71, how many affected?
Posted by pnksniper on September 18, 2008
It’s been a month or two since the E71-1 was released globally and about a week since the release of the E71-2 and I think it’s time to ask, is your keyboard loose? When I received my review E71-1 I was wowed by the build quality: the metal, gloss, the weight, the keyboard, the keyboard? It’s one of the most important parts of the phone, yet it was flawed. I noticed that the top portion of the keyboard was loose. It was floating above the keys. Maybe since the E-71 had passed through so many hands that it had become loose. When my E71-2 arrived at my door (rather I had to pick it up from FedEx) one of the first things I inspected was the keyboard. To my relief it was normal; flat against the unit with no signs of looseness. So is this a manufacturing defect or just a case of misuse. So I throw the question to YOU the readers. Is your unit affected with a loose keyboard? Chime In!!! PS. If you don’t know what I’m referring to I’ve included a sample video that I took of both the units I had in my possession. Enjoy!
Right: E71-1 (defect) | Left: E71-2 (no defect)

Nokia E-71 Initial Thoughts
Posted by pnksniper on July 19, 2008
Ive been using the Nokia E-71 for three days and I must say this device is great. There are some things that I don’t care for but here are my initial thoughts, any questions about the device leave a comment below and I’ll get to it.
Enjoy!
Pros:
- This phone is built like a tank. The body is mostly metal with only two panels that are plastic. This phone does not have creaks.
- The speed of the device is amazing! Lightning quick to open up applications. Everything is snappy (Internet, Nokia maps, camera initialization, etc) I will install 3rd party apps to test this further. But so far no gripes here.
- The phone is thin.
- QWERTY Keyboard! Mashing out text and going online feels natural utilizing the full keyboard.
Cons:
- I don’t know if this is due to the metal casing but the phone has weak reception (still testing).
- The speaker on the unit is loud but not loud enough. It is suitable for use indoors but when trying to use it outdoors the speaker sounds faint.
- The speaker for the earpiece is faint.
- QWERTY Keyboard! I’m on day three of using the phone and I feel that the keys are a little on the small side. Maybe it takes a little more time to get used to. The keyboard on the top and center area lifts up from the handset (not a huge issue, just something I noticed initially)
Only some initial impressions, the full review is coming. So stay tuned!

E-71 Carnival Test shots.
Posted by pnksniper on July 18, 2008
Today I hit the local carnival and decided to test out the E-71’s ability to take photos and movies. Most of the photos were taken at dusk or night time. The E-71 did not fair so well in either category but we do have to remember that this is a business phone. Although the colors and quality are not all that great it works when you dont have a camera with you. The 640×480 @ 15fps is definetly a huge difference compared to the N-series offerings and is apparent when you watch the sample video I posted. Enjoy!
And the sample movie:

FlipSilent Signed!
Posted by pnksniper on July 17, 2008
No longer is it necessary to jump through hoops and sign apps to enjoy this great app. FlipSilent is a program that allows for accelerometer based S60 (N82, N95, N95 8GB) devices to be silenced with the flip of the phone (FlipSilent explains this as interacting with the phone in a more natural way). This works for incoming calls and also the alarm clock. Enjoy!
